Manufacturing Engineering Manager, JLG Industries

My current role at JLG is as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer under our Operations Innovation team. I have been a part of this team for the last 5 months. In this role, I focus on automation projects to increase the safety, efficiency, and quality of our processes globally.

Describe your journey at JLG.

I recently accepted a position as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager at McConnellsburg and am working through transitioning into that role. I spent the first 4 years of my career as a Manufacturing Engineer at our Shippensburg facility where I worked primarily in final assembly and machining, then relocated to McConnellsburg as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer where my main focus was in boom fabrication. After 2 years, I was promoted to Principal Manufacturing Engineer. This role included managing our final assembly manufacturing engineering team, as well as facility-wide projects in McConnellsburg.

What makes your career interesting?

The piece I enjoy the most about being an engineer in manufacturing is the ability to discuss opportunities with team members who build our product every day and turn that into reality. We get to work side by side with multiple functions within the organization to improve processes and safety for our team members.

What makes the Southern Alleghenies a great place to live and work?

I have lived in the region my whole life. I enjoy the mountain scenery and the outdoor activities that are available.

What do you think young people should know about careers in manufacturing?

Manufacturing provides a lot of different opportunities for young people to determine what career path they want to follow. There are many different functions (Human Resources, IT, Sales, Engineering, Operations, GPSC, etc.) that work together to make manufacturing facilities function.
